Art Facts:

  • Weekly camp fee includes all art material, registration fee, one camp t-shirt, and a bag.
  • Since we get messy in art, campers are to wear their camp shirts each day. We also use aprons in the studio. Additional camp shirts can be purchased for $15/each.
  • Every week is staffed with a certified art teacher and intern with an approximate 1:7 staff/student ratio.  All campers will be in the same age group.
  • Young artists are expected to create at least three major projects and two minor ones within the five days using a mixed media approach.
  • Young artists will also be exposed to master artist studies and educational resources based on our weekly theme.
  • Campers do not need to register for the two weeks of each set of themes.  Individual weeks are encouraged, as well, and connections will be made between the set of themes.
  • Campers will have the opportunity to spend supervised time outside to engage in sketching and other art activities.
  • All campers must bring lunch Monday-Thursday and water each day.  We encourage “green” reusable water bottles and containers.
  • KNMA will provide a pizza lunch each Friday.
  • All campers should pack a morning and afternoon snack each camp day, as well as lunch and a drink.  KNMA offers additional snacks for sale on site as well.  If you would like your camper to purchase additional snacks, please ensure they bring cash.
  • KNMA prices our camps out as low as possible to account for sibling and multiple week discounts.  We will issue $60 per family in Kids Art Express Certificates when siblings are registered.
  • We wear socks in the studio to keep our floors clean and free of germs.  We always have clean socks in the studio, but please feel free to bring your own.
  • KNMA offers a fun, safe, creative, nurturing, and educational environment.  We reserve the right to dismiss a child from camp without refund who is continually disruptive to our overall environment and does not adjust to repeated requests or family support.
  • Half-day options are available from 9am-12noon if our week is not full.  Half-day spots will be released the Friday before the start of camp.
  • Due to the nature of our art projects and program, we cannot accommodate daily registrations.
  • All camp fees are due on or before June 1st for registrations made prior to that date.  After June 1st, payment is due at time of registration.  No refunds or changes to registrations can be made to registrations completed after June 1st.  However, KNMA will give credit for any missed days via our Kids Art Express gift certificates.
  • KNMA is proud of our Summer Art Series and promises to work hard to make your child’s time with us creatively enjoyable and rewarding.  Thank you!

Flip & Turn!

Young artists will “Flip” for creativity as we kick off the summer exploring and creating works inspired by optical master artists such as M.C. Escher, who used symmetry to create amazing visuals.  Then, “Turn on the Art” and discover the works of surrealist artists like Rene Magritte as we depict ordinary objects in unusual contexts to turn the everyday world upside down and every which way around while making extraordinary art!

Flip:   June 5th – June 9th
Turn:  June 12th – June 16th

Rhythm & Blues!

Move on in to the third week of summer as we create energetic art inspired by the “Rhythm” of artists such as Wassily Kandinky and Romare Bearden who used movement and repetition in their master works.  Young artists will then discover the beauty of “Blues” with favorite masters like Pablo Picasso and and Yves Klein as they explore the coolest of colors in a whole new way!

Rhythm:  June 19th – June 23rd
Blues:  June 26th – June 30th

Wet & Wild!

Dive into the deep as we discover the “Wet” side of art and the colorful and lifelike art of such masters as Wyland and Hokusai.  Young artists will draw inspiration from Florida’s favorite natural resource to create some swimmingly good art!  Then, venture into the “Wild” with master artists like Henri Rousseau as imagination and creativity guide us in an exploration of the many beautiful colors and subjects of wild nature!

Wet:  July 3rd – July 7th (4 day camp)
Wild:  July 10th – July 14th

Kings & Queens!

Hear, ye, hear ye!  Royalty will descend upon the KNMA studio as your young “Kings & Queens” of art travel back to the age of chivalry  through the works of artists like Hans Holbein in an exploration of imagination.  The art of symbols, heraldry, and such fantastic everyday creations as playing cards will provide wonderful resources from which the most royal of creations will surely be inspired!

Kings:  July 17th – July 21st
Queens:  July 24th – July 28th

Sweet & Sour!

Bittersweet as it may be, the end of summer will be all too near for some in these last few weeks of our Summer Art Series, but KNMA has saved the best for last as we savor the “Sweet and Sour” and discover the role of food in art.  Master artists like Wayne Thiebaud, Claes Oldenburg, and Matisse encourage us to find the beauty in even the most everyday subjects, and young artists will love using the flavors of creation to explore the ordinary in a new way!

Sweet:  July 31st – August 4th
Sour:  August 7th – August 11th
